Think Thin Bars

THINK THIN

A few weeks back I received a box in the mail from Think Thin.   After doing a little email folder research I discovered I had won a sweepstakes and was one of a few people who received a sample pack of Think Thin snack bars.

Mika, my 2 year old was super excited when he discovered that we had gotten a "tasty treat" in the mail and immediately wanted to taste.  Didn't take him long to eat half the bar while he "mm, good, tasty, look mama" his whole way through!.

Since the baby enjoyed them so much, I set out to discover more about this company.  What I uncovered was that these bars are gluten free and zero sugar so even diabetics and people with gluten sensitivity or Celiac Disease can eat them!  What I love the most about these bars is they have the perfect ratio of calories and good fat, they are great to eat as a meal on the go, and they taste more like a dessert than a "health food."

The "skinny" on these bars is that we really like them.  Mika asked me today if he could have a "candy bar"  and since I still had one of these bars left, I could say yes without feeling any guilt or worry about what is going into my child's body!

Where can I get them?  You can find them on their website, follow them on Facebook or Twitter.  Also, you can readily purchase these bars on the website and they are priced the same as most protein/health/diet bars you find in the market.  They are $1.99 a bar and the more you buy at once the more you save.  Ten bars are $16.90 and 60 bars are $95.40 so if you enjoy them you can purchase in advance and save a ton of money.  Some people might think this is pricey, but in all honesty if you purchase them in bulk, they are less than health bars at Walmart.

Bottom line is we really like these bars and I think we have found a permanent addition to our "snack" food cabinet!

Disclaimer:  I received zero compensation for this review; however, I did receive a sample pack as a sweepstakes prize along with several other people.  All opinions in this review are mine alone.

The Best Presents in the World!!!

The Best Presents in the World!!

What did you tell Santa you want for Christmas?  I can think of several things I told him, but nothing will quite compare to the presents my children gave me this week!

Frosty Kiss Cookies-Tasty Tuesday!

 Frosty Kiss Cookies

We are preparing for our company to arrive for Christmas at our house.  For me, although I just did a full Spring Clean on Thanksgiving day while my DH worked a long 12 hour shift, I am in the process of doing it again.  I clean EVERY DAY but I like it to be Home and Garden Perfect when I have company, but man I hate cleaning.  However, what I do love?  BAKING!!!!!!

And we are baking our hiney biscuits off!  DH is baking a cheese cake (flavor will be a secret until he decides to reveal it), chocolate covered peanut butter Ritz crackers, 3 kinds of fudge, peanut brittle, and I am making a pineapple cheese ball and my favorite cookies in the world!  So for Tasty Tuesday, I thought I would share with you my cookies!  FYI-if you are a regular reader, you will notice that my favorite cookies are a twist off of Grandma Bowen's Christmas Cookies.

Frosty Kiss Cookie recipe:

Great Grandma Bowen's Christmas Cookies

1/2 cup plus 2 tbs sugar
3/4 cup butter (NOT margarine-cookies won't turn out right)
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
2/13 cup plus 2 tbs flour sifted
1 large egg
1 tsp Nielsen-Massey Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Extract
1/4 tsp peppermint extract
1 bag of candy cane cookie Hershey Kisses

Sift together flour, salt,  and baking powder and set aside

Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.  Add egg, peppermint extract and vanilla and thoroughly mix

Gradually add flour mixture to butter mixture until completely combined.

Here is where the recipe deviates

I roll 1-2 inch balls out of the dough and put a thumb print in the middle of each ball on a greased cookie sheet.  In the thumb print of each cookie place an unwrapped Candy Cane Hershey Kiss and bake at 350 for 12-15 minutes until the cookies are golden brown.  Let cool about five minutes before moving them to a cooling rack and enjoy!

The end result?  Complete and total yumminess!

Sunday Sayings!

SUNDAY SAYINGS

Over the years there have been a few quotations or sayings in life to help me get through life, whether it's a happy day or a sad occasion.  I guess I have been waxing thoughtful lately but I thought I would share them with you.  Hope you are as inspired as I have been!

“You need to learn how to select your thoughts just the same way you select your clothes every day. This is a power you can cultivate. If you want to control things in your life so bad, work on the mind. That's the only thing you should be trying to control.”
― Elizabeth GilbertEat, Pray, Love

“To find the balance you want, this is what you must become. You must keep your feet grounded so firmly on the earth that it's like you have 4 legs instead of 2. That way, you can stay in the world. But you must stop looking at the world through your head. You must look through your heart, instead. That way, you will know God.”
― Elizabeth GilbertEat, Pray, Love

“I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they're right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.”
― Marilyn Monroe

“When it comes down to it, I let them think what they want. If they care enough to bother with what I do, then I'm already better than them.”
― Marilyn Monroe

If you don’t love yourself, you cannot love others. You will not be able to love others. If you have no compassion for yourself then you are not able of developing compassion for others.

Dalai Lama

“Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.”
― Dr. Seuss

“You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams.”
― Dr. Seuss
