I don't know about the rest of you but I am always struggling to find good flavorful alternatives to the indulgent "junk food" that is just so easy to crave and want:  especially when I have children to add into the mix.  As many of you know, my oldest son Max has had some health issues in the past year which resulted in making over the way we eat and think about food.  Fortunately, his issues are hereditary, but manageable with diet, and now that we have our "routine" down, I am really expanding my knowledge and our diet with some vegan, gluten-free, and vegetarian foods as well.

The result is that we feel better all the time, have more energy, and the kids have all gotten so slim, although they were never fluffy to begin with.  I was thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Go Max Go Foods a vegan family owned company named in tribute to the life of their wonderful dog Max (also my son's name) who brought joy and happiness to those he surrounded with his love.

I was blessed to try their line of chocolate bars which of course are cruelty-free, vegan, and three which are also gluten-free. I received Mahalu, Snap!, Cleo's Cups, Twilight, Buccaneer, and Jokerz.  I am a coconut freak so I immediately snatched up the Mahalo bar which is vegan and gluten-free and hid it for myself.  Hey, don't judge me, there are four chocolate loving kids here, and all is fair in love and chocolate!  I didn't know what to expect from these bars to be quite honest, because I have had some not quite so lovely reactions from my taste buds when eating gluten-free before. I.was.pleasantly.in.shock.  Had I not read the packaging for myself, I would have thought this was any other not-so-good for me or the animals products!  And, as you can see for yourself, the children LOVED them!

The true test was of course my DH, Matthew who hasn't always been so thrilled about my single-handedly choosing to change everyone's diet, including his.  He's really funny because the minute he hears specific "health words" such as vegan, gluten-free, whole grain, etc he says "you guys can have it.  I'm good!"  However, he has a strong-willed wife who refuses to let him dislike something without at least tasting it.  He is addicted to  loves chocolate peanut butter cups, so I gave him the Cleo's Cups and didn't tell him they were vegan and gluten-free.  He liked them so much, he asked if I had more and if not, please buy more.  THEN I told him how they meet all of my standards, and he didn't believe me until I showed him the packaging!

I have tried many foods over the past two years, some I didn't like, some I liked, and a select few I love.  If you are a junk food junkie trying to make some changes to your diet, but not wanting to give up your favorite candy bar then try Go Max Go Foods chocolate bars.  You can read the ingredients and find one similar to the one you are accustomed to eating, and I promise you won't be disappointed.  My Max-not the dog, said it best "Mama, these taste just like ------------- candy but it's good for me!"  So there it is in a nutshell!
