Spark Box Toys

Spark Box Toys

A Little known secret about me that I rarely talk about is that I taught school for 6 years. I am a music teacher by talent and expertise, but I also spent several years working with both Kindergarten and 1st grade in the classroom.

Nothing is more satisfying than watching a child who is learning a new concept finally “get it;” the look of aha and self esteem that they finally see! I came a cross a website for Spark Box Toys and knew I had to write them immediately.

The concept is you sign up for a service and for a small monthly fee they will send you a box a toys tailored for the specific age of your child and you get to use if for a month or more. The great thing is in the package they include a return mailing label and they even email you when it is time to return the toys. After you return the toys you receive a different box of toys in the mail

No more excess toys and you have the toys long enough to enjoy, but not too long to be bored with them. No more precious time spent sorting and getting rid of toys no longer needed, and the best part is they are educational toys!

It's a personalized service where you tell them about your child, you get to approve the box you are going to receive, and then viola! The box arrives in the mail. My box included a My Own Leaptop computer which is good for fine motor skills, sensory, hand-eye coordination , self-esteem, awareness, memory, reasoning, and problem solving!

Also, I received Pull Along Zoo Animals which is good for both gross and fine motor skills, sensory, balance, hand eye coordination, creativity, memory and logical reasoning. Rainbow Blocks Stacker were both included as well and are both great for all of the things already listed.

Mika was so excited to get this box in the mail! His first response was “ahhh Daddy, my puter” which at two is his way of saying computer. He has literally spent all week playing with these toys and ignoring all his Christmas toys! His favorite by far is the computer which he wakes up asking for and falls asleep playing with at night time, but he also loves the zoo animals. Honestly, he loves all the toys and in my opinion as a teacher and a mom is that this is the best thing since sliced bread!

We have already decided to purchase a few of these toys when we send them back and I would recommend this service to any parent.  You can sign up for the Spark Box Toys service on the website and you can also access them on Facebook and Twitter.

Momo's Piggery Stories in Clay

Momo's Piggery Stories In Clay

Right around Christmas time I came into conversation with the Owner of Momo's Piggery Stories in Clay, Monica "Momo" Hsieh.  She makes the cutest clay jewelry:  everything from charms, necklaces, magnets, bookmarks, etc.  Each one is hand made, and comes with it's own adoption certificate so that you can forever love your new friend!

What I love the most about Momo is that she believes in and supports a wonderful cause:  Adopting guinea pigs.  A portion of all her sales go to the Cavy House Guinea Pig Rescue and she believes strongly in adopting instead of breeding.

I received just the cutest necklace and magnet in the mail!  My daughters were immediately in love and discussing who would wear the necklace first!  It is hand crafted out of a sturdy material and I love that it is super cute for the girls to wear, but Mama can also rock out in this cute piece of jewelry.

The absolute best of all is that this jewelry is reasonably priced, you can easily buy it online,  and you know that a portion of your money is going to a wonderful cause.  Also,  she can be found on Facebook.
