Pacifica Review

This year has been all about changes for me-some little, some bigger, but all in an effort to be healthier, feel better, and of course look better!  Part of those changes has been to look at my beauty style and tweak things up a bit since I have been in a 15+ year makeup rut.  I haven't worn lipstick on a regular basis in years, and I haven't worn it at all in the last five years so I have been looking for some alternatives that give my lips a great shine, a hint of color, but without looking like I have on a heavy lip color.

Pacifica is a company who offers the type of solution I had been looking for.  Pacifica offers everything from Bath and Body products, Perfumes, Candles, and Lip and Body Color.  These products contain no animal bi-products, haven't been tested on animals and without many chemicals and other things that are bad for the body.

I tried the Island Vanilla perfume and the Color Quench Lip Tint in Blood Orange.

I received the .33oz roll-on Island Vanilla perfume.  It has a top note of sweet vanilla with a hint of fruit, tea, and honey jasmine.  It has been named perfectly because when I smelled it my first thought was the Islands or a great Beach scent.  It's the perfect size to put in your purse or evening bag and re-apply as you like; however, I apply in the mornings and can still smell the perfume on my arm in the evenings.  I especially like this scent because it is light, and I can layer it to make it a bolder scent.

The Color Quench Lip Tint in Blood Orange comes in a 100% recyclable tube and is also perfect for popping in your purse or makeup bag.  It contains coconut oil and avocado oil to leave your lips really soft and smooth.

It has just light gloss of color in coral with a hint of pink.  It's 100% vegan, comes in four shades to suit almost any skin tone, has a nice natural flavor to it, and my lips are softer than they have been in quite sometime.  The tube is much bigger than a typical chap stick which took me a while to get used to; however, once I remembered it is a bit wider than my lips, it hasn't been an issue at all.  The best part is that it will last longer because it is bigger!

I have been overall pleased with these products, and I think you should check them out for yourself!  They can be purchased at the Pacifica Website as well as at the Sephora website. You can also stay socially connected with Pacifica on Facebook and Twitter.

Saying Goodbye Forever to Sposies with Soft Bums Cloth Diapers

Soft Bums

Back in the day when I had my first child, over 13 years ago, I used cloth diapers.  I don't know what all the options were back then, but I know my mama said to buy pre-folds so I did.  I remember pinning those diapers on, putting on the oh-so-uncomfortable-looking rubber pants over the diaper and praying for a miracle:  that we didn't have leaks or even more important, please no rash.  I did this for 6 months when I just gave up. It really isn't  a proud moment, but it was just so much work, and he was lactose intolerant, but we didn't know until he was a year old.  So he had 12+ stinkies a day and it was just a nightmare.

Fast forward 13 years and four kids later, and I discovered by chance and a great blog post by another blogger a year ago that there is an AMAZING world of cloth diapers out there.  While you can still  purchase and use pre-folds, they now have diapers that look just like disposables, only softer!  They are money saving in the long run, softer, I never have to worry about running out in the middle of the night because we used the last diaper, etc.  I was SOLD.

About two weeks ago, I was blessed to receive an Omni with a Dry Touch Pod from Soft Bums in the mail.  I have used this diaper every night since, and I am ready to tell you about my experience.

When I opened the package my first thought was this will never fit my son, but the wonderful thing is this diaper will fit a brand new baby, but expands also to fit an older baby.  My son currently weighs 35 lbs (he's in the 95% for height and 50% for weight, so we grow them tall here) and the diaper fits him perfectly.

Also, the diaper came with a super absorbant Dry Touch Pod that is really soft .  Mika was very excited when he first opened the package saying "Oh, Mama my Diappy like Blanky" as he rubbed it on his face. Translated that means he thinks his new diaper is as soft as his best friend in the whole world:  his favorite blanket, and he is right.  It is WAY softer than even the premium disposable diapers.

I love that the  Dry Touch Pod  has two ways to be used.  The first is snapped in so that the insert is directly touching the baby's skin.

The  Dry Touch Pod  can also be tucked into a built in pocket instead.  I am not a cloth diapering expert, but I believe that extra pocket is a God-send.  At night time you can put a Dry touch Mini Pod in the pocket, and snap the Dry Touch Pod inside the diaper for extra protection if you have a super soaker baby!

The diaper is so easy to care for.  I have 6 people here, so I do laundry daily.  Every morning, I change Mika and I put the night time diaper right into the machine with the other laundry.  I simply remove the insert and velcro the diaper back together so it doesn't stick on the other clothes.  If I had a younger baby, it would simply mean rinsing out diapers as they use them and washing one extra load of clothes a day.  Easy!  Two things I did note:  1.  I need to be careful not to put the insert in with the towels, because the insert will pick up fuzz and 2.  I only dry the diaper for 20-30 minutes because the first time I washed it a small area of thread came apart on the diaper leaving a small hole.  It was a very small area, and I think it was a glitch. After sewing the area back, I haven't had any other issues and I have washed it 13 more times!

The bottom line is I don't know why I didn't cloth diaper all my other children!  This is honestly not that much more work at all, there is no nasty diaper smell in my house from stinky diapers in my trash, and they are so much softer on my baby's skin!  Additionally, I can line dry them on great weather days making them even more eco-friendly and I like that.  I have officially changed my opinions about cloth diapers thanks to Soft Bums, and I would recommend their diaper to anyone to buy!  As a matter of fact, I like them so much, I am going to buy a couple of mini pods to add to my system!

Soft Bums diapers can be purchased directly on their website, and connect with them socially on Facebook and Twitter.

St. Paddy's Pot o' Chocolate Giveaway-Go Max Go

Go Max Go

I don't know about the rest of you but I am always struggling to find good flavorful alternatives to the indulgent "junk food" that is just so easy to crave and want:  especially when I have children to add into the mix.  As many of you know, my oldest son Max has had some health issues in the past year which resulted in making over the way we eat and think about food.  Fortunately, his issues are hereditary, but manageable with diet, and now that we have our "routine" down, I am really expanding my knowledge and our diet with some vegan, gluten-free, and vegetarian foods as well.

The result is that we feel better all the time, have more energy, and the kids have all gotten so slim, although they were never fluffy to begin with.  I was thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Go Max Go Foods a vegan family owned company named in tribute to the life of their wonderful dog Max (also my son's name) who brought joy and happiness to those he surrounded with his love.

I was blessed to try their line of chocolate bars which of course are cruelty-free, vegan, and three which are also gluten-free. I received Mahalu, Snap!, Cleo's Cups, Twilight, Buccaneer, and Jokerz.  I am a coconut freak so I immediately snatched up the Mahalo bar which is vegan and gluten-free and hid it for myself.  Hey, don't judge me, there are four chocolate loving kids here, and all is fair in love and chocolate!  I didn't know what to expect from these bars to be quite honest, because I have had some not quite so lovely reactions from my taste buds when eating gluten-free before.  Had I not read the packaging for myself, I would have thought this was any other not-so-good for me or the animals products!  And, as you can see for yourself, the children LOVED them!

The true test was of course my DH, Matthew who hasn't always been so thrilled about my single-handedly choosing to change everyone's diet, including his.  He's really funny because the minute he hears specific "health words" such as vegan, gluten-free, whole grain, etc he says "you guys can have it.  I'm good!"  However, he has a strong-willed wife who refuses to let him dislike something without at least tasting it.  He is addicted to  loves chocolate peanut butter cups, so I gave him the Cleo's Cups and didn't tell him they were vegan and gluten-free.  He liked them so much, he asked if I had more and if not, please buy more.  THEN I told him how they meet all of my standards, and he didn't believe me until I showed him the packaging!

I have tried many foods over the past two years, some I didn't like, some I liked, and a select few I love.  If you are a junk food junkie trying to make some changes to your diet, but not wanting to give up your favorite candy bar then try Go Max Go Foods chocolate bars.  You can read the ingredients and find one similar to the one you are accustomed to eating, and I promise you won't be disappointed.  My Max-not the dog, said it best "Mama, these taste just like ------------- candy but it's good for me!"  So there it is in a nutshell!

Where to find them:  You can find out more about Go Max Go Foods and find a store near you that carries these bars on the website!  You can also connect with them on Facebook and  Twitter.

How to win them:  Go Max Go Foods has offered one of my lucky readers a 6 pack of their bars: one of each flavor.  Simply enter one or all of the entries on the Rafflecopter form.

Coffee House Quality in My Kitchen-Davinci Gourmet

DaVinci Gourmet®

Anyone who has ever known me for more than 10 minutes knows I am a certifiable coffee-holic.  I have significantly cut my intake back this year to a cup or two once or twice a week, but as of the First of the Year, I was consuming a 12 cup pot a day minimum.  There isn't anything I don't love about coffee from the aroma to the taste, and there was a time that I frequented a National coffee chain daily for a five dollar cup of coffee.  Thankfully, I am older and financially wiser, but I still have a love for gourmet coffee.

That's where DaVinci Gourmet comes in!  I was blessed with a package from DaVinci Gourmet a few weeks ago that included four of their Single Original Syrups:  Hawaiian Salted Caramel, Turkish Hazelnut, Madagascar Vanilla, and Pacific Northwest Raspberry Syrup.  I immediately brewed a pot of my Fair Trade coffee and enjoyed a Hawaiian Salted Caramel Latte since I am a HUGE Caramel fan!  It was fabulous.  The syrup is unprocessed, contains salts from the shores of Hawaii, and has a pink color from the Alea-Reddish Hawaiian Clay.

Next, I tried the Turkish Hazelnut syrup which features Hazelnuts grown along the Black Sea, hand picked, and sun-dried.  I was beyond pleased and thinking about all the chocolate hazelnut concoctions I could come up with!  Lastly, I tried the Madagascar Vanilla which features Vanilla beans grown in Madagascar, and it of course tasty as well.   I love them all, but of course my favorite is the Caramel.

For the Pacific Northwest Raspberry Syrup, I decided to try something different.  I had some lemons sitting in my fruit bowl, so I whipped up a gallon of fresh lemonade, added some of the syrup and served it to my children for supper.  It was an immediate success, and they were all asking for seconds and if I would make more the next night for supper!!!

Where you can find them:  You can purchase the syrups on the website and stay socially connected with DaVinci Gourmet on Facebook

Harvey Prince Eau Fling Perfume Perfect for any Date or Occasion!

Harvey Prince

As a little girl, I remember loving to stand at my mother's dresser and smell her perfume.  I loved perfume so much that when her bottle was empty, I would always beg her to let me have it so I could play with it!  I remember spending countless hours playing store, beauty salon, and just enjoying those beautiful bottles.

Fast forward centuries a few years later, and I still have a love for perfume!  Although many scents trigger migraines for me so I have to be selective about the fragrances I wear, I have a beautiful gold gilded mirror that sits on my vanity and this is where I keep my collection of special fragrances and beauty products.  Harvey Prince was started by two brothers a few years back when they were inspired to create a perfume for their mother that was high quality, not overpriced, and chemical free.  These are all important issues in my life, so, you can imagine how thrilled I was a couple of weeks ago when I received a package in the mail from the Harvey Prince company with some of their Eau Fling perfume and some samples of another scent, Ageless.

I tried Eau Flirt first, wearing it every day for a week with no migraines at all.  This is just a lovely spicy scent which has been coined by the press as a "modern day love potion."  Per the website, it combines jasmine, lavender and pumpkin pie notes all of which have been shown to attract men.  I know I love the scent:  it is definitely something I like to put on in the evening following my shower.   The best part:  my husband who usually doesn't like perfume at all said it smells "alright" when asked what he thought instead of his usual hiding his nose under the covers to avoid the perfume smell.

I also like the Ageless fragrance they sent me.  It reminds me of something my sister who likes the lighter flowery scents with honeysuckle undertones.   It's a good anytime scent, but I find myself wearing it more during the day when I get up in the morning since it reminds me of the wonderful spring flowers!  It actually has notes of grapefruit, mango  along with various other scents and is known to disguise the scent of aging!

The best part is Harvey Prince perfumes are 100% cruelty free, don't contain any food allergen products or various chemicals which are usually in perfumes,   You can purchase their items online as well as connect with them on Facebook, Twitter, and Google + Circles.
