Any Excuse will do: Dress up year round with Costume Discounters!

As a mother of four children ages 3-13, I don't even bat an eye if I share my dinner table with Cinderella, a superhero, or a cowboy!  I have learned that my children often need zero coaxing to get them to dress up, and I love watching and listening to where their imagination takes them.

Sometimes we hodge-podge together a costume, but we also have a nice array of costumes that we have collected over the years:  fairy outfits, vampires, skeletons, pirates, Cinderella, and an Avatar.  When I said we like to play dress up, I meant it!

I would love to share with you Costume Discounters.  They offer a huge selection of costumes for babies, infants, toddlers, children, and adults year round at a fraction of the cost you would pay in the store.  What's even better is I don't have to stand in a store with four eager children and look through already picked through costumes only to find out the store doesn't even have the one they wanted.

They carry such a large selection that even if your child or toddler has a certain costume they HAVE to have,  they will see at least 3 others they want equally as much.  Mika, my youngest and I had a blast looking at all the toddler costumes.  The website is in easy categories so you can decide if you want to view all costumes, superheros, Disney, etc, as you browse.

The costume Mika selected, the toddler Buzz Lightyear costume was labeled a size 3T-4T, and I was a bit nervous since he typically wears a 5t now.  The costume was made in a jumpsuit style with a stretchy material so while it would have easily fit a smaller child with room to grow, it still fit Mika perfectly.

The costume is well-sewn, easy to put on/take off, and retails for only $36 but is on sale now for $29.59.  Since Buzz Lightyear has been making a daily appearance at my table, in my bed, and basically everywhere else for that matter, I am very impressed with how well it is holding up.  My other three have already selected the costumes they want, and I feel very comfortable buying them for the kids!

You can view the large selection of costumes at Costume Discounters and follow them @CostumeDiscount on Twitter.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

BareBody Soap Giveaway!

Once upon a time, Cinderella met her Knight in Shining Armor country boy in a big mud truck, and together they liked to do things like fishing, gardening, preserving food, taking care of their lawn, and sometimes going mudding.  Together they have four pretty amazing but awfully dirty kids (see activities already mentioned).  So, as you can imagine, soap, body wash, and any other personal cleaning products are a very important and valuable commodity in our caste log home.

As with all products, I prefer natural, green, eco-friendly soaps and body washes that I can feel great about letting my children put on their bodies.  I have two that suffer from eczema outbreaks, and I have discovered these outbreaks occur much less when I am using natural laundry and personal products.

Bare Body Soaps is on the same mission that I am when it comes to body products.  They care for what is "Bare."  Founder Rosanne Muncy has focused on minimizing toxins in her families life replacing this with a more natural, healthy way of life!  Bare Body Soaps is committed to the environment and the animals.  They are made with certified organic oils, certified vegan, and Certified Cruelty-Free!

I received a package containing 3 soaps:  Green Tea and Lemon Grass Soap, Rosemary Mint Soap, and Patchouli Orange Soap.  These soaps smell so good that I left them on my dining room sidebar for a few days just so I could smell them!  I admit I may have a TINY addiction to great smelling natural soap.  But back to the soap.  It does a great job getting my dirty darlings clean, leaves them smelling like fresh herbs or flowers, and leaves their skin looking great all while only putting great things on their skin.

I know, I know,  you want to know more.  So head on over to the Bare Body Soaps website and check out their wonderful offerings and scents for yourself.  You can also keep up with them on Facebook and Twitter!

Who wants to win some?  That's right, Bare Body Soaps has graciously offered a Organza Wood Crate Gift Set to one of my lucky readers!  All you have to do is complete one or more options on the Rafflecopter.  Remember, the more options you complete, the greater your chances of winning!

Verb Hair Products: Professional Green Products!

I have a few splurges in life: coconut water for hydration a few times a week, great coffee beans because I want great tasting coffee, and when it comes to my hair, I want it to look good.  However, I prefer that it look good while keeping Mother Earth first.

Verb hair products do just that!  The line of products began in a local salon in Austin, and these products only cost $12 each!  While these products may be inexpensive, they certainly don't work like most inexpensive products.  They stand up to the rigors of the runway, yet don't have any harmful products and have UV protectants in them!

Verb Product lineup

I was blessed to receive the Verb Hydrating Shampoo and the Verb Styling Cream to help with my review.  Both of these products smell so nice.  They remind me of the scent of lotion that has Shea butter in it.  It's not overwhelming, but I can still smell that wonderful fresh Shea scent during the day.

The Verb Hydrating Shampoo does a good job getting my hair clean, and I used a simple cucumber goat's milk conditioner on it afterwords to help comb through my curls.  Only on very rare occasions do I ever blow dry my hair so my curls don't get anymore frizzy than what the humidity in the South leaves them.

So, after I had dried my hair with a hair towel I added a good dollop about the size of a silver dollar of the Verb Styling Cream  to my curls focusing most of the cream from my ears down.

After I let my curls air dry, the end result was nice curls that weren't all frizzy and smelled great all day! These products are good for straight hair, different shades of color, and even product treated hair.  I love these products and give them a thumbs up! You can find out more about them and their other products on The Verb website , Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and The Verb Blog.

Meatless Monday: Mango Quinoa Salad

Yesterday, I had to make a trip to my local whole food coop, Weaver Street Market, and while I was there I took advantage of buying from the bulk bins.  As far as healthy food goes, it is almost always cheaper by the ounce or pound to buy in the bulk bins than it is to buy a package of something so I stocked up on Quinoa and several other items.

We do eat meat in our home, and I can't say I don't enjoy it.  However, during the hot months of Sumcmer I am often turned off by the thought of eating a heavy piece of meat.  Recently it has been chicken or fish just way too often, so I was ready for some even lighter, refreshing fare!  I would like to share with you what we had for supper yesterday, and it is definitely going to be a repeat meal this Summer!

Mango Quinoa Salad

2 cups of Quinoa, any variety
2 cups of water
2 cups of low sodium stock
2 ripe mangoes diced
2 green onions, just the green part
1 red bell pepper diced
10 sugar snap peas diced
fresh cilantro
salt and pepper to taste

Bring water, stock and rinsed Quinoa to a boil and reduce heat to simmer for about 15-20 minutes until it is cooked and liquid has cooked off.

Toss the veggies and fruit together in a bowl and add cilantro and salt and pepper to taste.  Note:  I was out of cilantro yesterday, and it was still good, but better with the cilantro.

Add the cooked quinoa, toss well, and chill for a couple of hours or overnight.

Green Your Laundry with Vaska Home Products!

Vaska Home Products

I love knowing that the products I am using in my everyday life are eco-friendly and kind to Mother Earth.  I teach my children how to not only enjoy the fruits of the land but how to give back, and that includes things like recycling and hanging our clothing on the line.  Also, I use either homemade or green cleaning supplies.

Vaska was founded in 1999 when a fashion designer was disappointed in his search for a product that was great for delicate fabrics and sensitive skin, yet good for for the planet.  The formula has been perfected by Scientists since then, and now natural herbs are paired with essential cleaning agents to create effective and eco-friendly laundry products.

I received a package of several items to assist my review which include the Vaska Perfect Scent-Free Laundry Detergent, the Perfect Lavender Laundry Detergent and several samples of each!

The products are 100% Biodegradable, safe for even babies, and hypoallergenic.  I love the packaging on the sample size.  Typically when opening a sample sized laundry detergent, I end up wearing a good half of it all over my hands because it starts gushing out all over the place. Not with Vaska!  When you pull the top off, you have to squeeze the tube and a steady small stream of laundry detergent flows into the washer.  No muss, no fuss!

The scent-free isn't exactly scent-free.  It doesn't have anything added other than natural cleaning ingredients, but it has a freshness about it that most scent free detergents lack!

The Perfect Lavender Laundry Detergent is simply lovely!  One of my favorite essential oils is lavender, and I love how relaxing it is to smell this aroma.  My clothes smell so clean and fresh!

Both the products got my clothes very clean, and I love how little the packaging is and how little liquid I actually had to use to get my clothing clean.  Because they are so eco-friendly and bio-degradable they receive the My Wild Crazy Life Seal of Approval, and I will recommend them to anyone looking for a great eco friendly laundry product!  You can find out more about the Vaska laundry line of products as well as find a store near you that sells them on the Vaska Website.  You can also access them on Facebook and Twitter to keep up with the latest and greatest Vaska happenings!
