I am so bad at crafting and sewing that my high school Home Ec teacher finished the dress I was required to make to get credit for the class. I think refused to fail me that year because she knew she would just have me again the following year and knew her sewing machines might not survive another year!
I had a "light bulb moment" hit me yesterday while I was sitting here moping about my lack of Fall decorations and my even more lacking pocket book.
Okay, so my pocket book is fine, but the husband has seen a few of my past creations and forbidden me from buying more crafting supplies. He says it's a waste of his hard-earned money.
Anyone who knows me knows that's as close to a dare as it gets for me so I did it. I made something-2 somethings.
I am calling these my Candy Corny Candle Holders cause they have no candy corn, and they are kinda corny in a cute way.
Before ya'll burst my bubble and tell me you saw a better version on Pinterest, I swear I haven't wasted away Pinterestville Halloween boards since last year. So if they resemble anyone else's creations, it's a repressed memory from last year. Ya'll just let me have my happy moment believing I made something cool!
How to Make the Candy Corny Candle Holders:
Ball Canning Jars and/or
Antique Milk Jar
Wilton Food Coloring
<Separate 3 equal parts of rice. For a quart jar that's 1 1/3 cup of rice for each part.
<Leave one part white
<Put one part of rice in a container, add yellow food color, replace lid, and shake until evenly colored
<Repeat in separate container with rice and orange food coloring
<Layer in jars, add candle and viola! Fall themed candle holders!
I thought I would share a real life picture with you. I kept trying to get a great picture without extra "craft" items, and I ultimately just snapped away!
